Happy (hot) Fall! This has been an extremely extended summer season for us Floridians, and also for our plants. The greenhouse is just starting to cool down and I can see the positive effects on the plants already. Our groups are busy planting and propagating lots of things for the plant sale and for our therapeutic horticulture participants to take home and as a result the greenhouse is filling up with beautiful and unusual plants. And that will continue at a fast rate until the plant sale on November 22-23, where we hope to empty it out again. So come do your part by finding your perfect plant (or several) to purchase and take home! All plant sale proceeds go directly to support our therapeutic horticulture programming and our beautiful gardens.
Wilmot Botanical Gardens Therapeutic Horticulture Program and the Environmental Horticulture Department received some great news recently – our new undergraduate Certificate Program in Horticultural Therapy has been approved by University of Florida and accredited by the American Horticultural Therapy Association. We are very proud to have achieved both designations and are happy to be able to pass these credentials along to our students in the certificate program.
